Since the National People’s Congress (NPC) and National Committee of CPPCC Annual Sessions in March 2008, the Chinese Government has reshuffled. On 11 March 2008 afternoon, Chinese lawmakers approved the State Council proposals for institutional restructuring of the government, which involves the creation of “super ministries” for energy, transportation, industries and environment protection. According to the reshuffle, the State Council has 27 ministries and commissions besides the General Office, compared with 28 previously.

 

The most important feature is the establishment of MIIT. MIIT has been in charge of all the industry sectors, such as Telecommunication, Light Industry, Electrical and Electronics Industry, Mechanical and Chemical etc. It takes charge of the administration of the Industry Standards and National Standards in the relevant industry sectors.

 

The government is restructured every five years in China. During the five years, some personnels of the government have been changed.
